NeuroArts Academy: Therapeutic Microschool

Our Story

NeuroArts Academy was founded by Ian Vereen, a multiply neurodivergent (AuDHD) educator, therapist, and community builder who knows firsthand what it’s like to grow up in systems that weren’t designed for minds like his.


As a university professor, pediatric mental health therapist, and board-certified neurologic music therapist, Ian has worked across nearly every educational setting: public, private, charter, therapeutic, and higher education. No matter the environment, one pattern kept showing up: kids who learned differently were being left behind, and families were burning out trying to find support that truly fit.

Time and again, Ian met families who chose homeschooling out of necessity, not because they wanted to go it alone, but because their children weren’t thriving in conventional classrooms. Too often, these families felt isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to turn. NeuroArts Academy was created to offer a better way.


Here, learning is flexible but grounded. Creative, but purposeful. Therapeutic, but free of stigma.

About NeuroArts Academy

Microschool

NeuroArts Academy is a therapeutic, creative cooperative microschool for children ages 4 and up who learn differently. We support hands-on, neurodivergent, PDAers, gifted, and expressive learners through project-based academics, arts integration, and real-world experiences.

Autism Early Learning Program

NeuroArts Academy’s Half-Day Autism Early Learning Program offers a warm, play-based early learning intervention for children ages 3–5 with autism and intellectual/learning disabilities. Held Thursdays from 8am - 12pm, our program combines relationship-based therapies, creative expression, and skill-building in a supportive, neuro-affirming environment designed to nurture each child’s growth.
